Transcontinental Rum Line (TCRL)’s Nicaragua 2004 is one complex rum! Distilled at Compañia Licorera de Nicaragua (C.L.D.N.), the rum is tropically aged for more than 10 years in bourbon casks before being sent to Europe for another 2 years of continental aging in oak tanks.
Despite a relatively low abv of 43%, the initial nosing of this rum is relatively sharp with rubber and nail polish, but a second nosing reveals a softer layer of vanilla and oak.

On the palate, the rum has good viscosity, oily, with notes of rubber, brine, but also vanilla, liquorice and dark chocolate. Despite the strong mid palate, its the lingering finish that really shines for this rum, where the rum evolves to taste of raisins, marmalade, and apricots!
